Should the Broncos keep four TEs?

Answer: Yes

One of the toughest aspects of the offseason is figuring out where to allocate roster spots. The NFL only allowing teams to take 53 guys into the regular season is just ridiculous and hurts the league more than anything.

The Broncos went through three tight ends rather quickly last year. They ended up with Matt LaCosse and Brian Parker playing significant regular-season snaps at the position. That’s not great.

With the Broncos’ roster constructed the way it is, can they even afford to keep four tight ends?

They pretty much have to.

Can they really count on Heuerman and Butt staying healthy for a whole season? What if Noah Fant hits the rookie wall?

The situation the team went through last year really puts them in a situation where they just about have to keep four tight ends on the roster, the fourth being Troy Fumagalli.

Unless Fumagalli seriously disappoints in preseason play, I don’t see any way he’s not on the final roster.

The only holdup here? The Broncos might roster three quarterbacks, which means someone is getting caught in the numbers game. Can they sacrifice at the tight end position? Is Fumagalli going to be one of their top 53 guys?

I think he will prove that he is.
