2019 All-AFC West team: Chargers dominate talented division
All-Purpose: Emmanuel Sanders, Denver Broncos
Graham Tiedtke
When you think of tough wide receivers, players like Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones come to mind. But what about Emmanuel Sanders?
Absolutely. Sanders has taken a lot of beatings from opposing defenses over the years. From hard, clean hits to illegal helmet-to-helmet hits. Somehow, Sanders still finds a way to get right back up and move on to the next play. Sometimes he even does the Mile High Salute after that type of play.
Sanders became the number 1 receiver for the Broncos in 2018 after the departure of Demaryius Thomas (traded to Houston). He finished the season with 71 receptions for 868 receiving yards and four touchdowns before tearing his Achilles in a practice late in the season. He also ran for a touchdown and threw one last season.
He is the veteran of the group of wide receivers for the Broncos and unless/until Courtland Sutton emerges as more of a threat, Sanders will still be that guy that the quarterback (who, right now is Joe Flacco) should find as the top target.
Coming off a severe injury, Sanders has shown on social media how hard he works. That is important to note. Work ethic is something you should never underestimate when it comes to Sanders. He will prove you wrong.
