In 2018, Allen ranked 12th in the league in terms of receptions with 97 and fifteenth in receiving yards with 1,196. Only Travis Kelce had more receptions in the division and Kelce and Tyreek Hill had more receiving yards.

If Allen stays healthy, he is scary good. He’s not the tallest (6’2”) but he is able to go over the top and make some great plays through the air.

In June, he was named the 34th best player on Pro Football Focus’ top-50 players list. Not just skill players. Not just offensive players. The entire league regardless of position.

He is Phillip Rivers’ go-to receiver with over 1,100 yards but was not the leader on the team in terms of receiving touchdowns (6). However, you need somebody to help you get down the field so that the team can score, even if it isn’t the yardage leader of the team.

In 2018, he caught 97 out of 136 targets (71.3%, good for third-best percentage of his career). His catch rate ranks 19th among receivers in the league.

The connection between Phillip Rivers and Allen is one of the better ones in the league and arguably will be the best connection between quarterback and wide receiver in the division. Notice I didn’t say quarterback and pass-catcher (cough) Travis Kelce (cough).
