LB2: Melvin Ingram, Los Angeles Chargers

Graham Tiedtke

Ingram has been named as a captain of the Chargers in his career. Players don’t usually vote for others unless they are a great player and obviously leader for their squad.

After starting off slow in terms of sacks, Ingram has stepped up and recorded 36.5 sacks in the last four years, including two 10.5-sack seasons. In 2017, he ranked third in the AFC West in sacks and in 2015 (his other 10.5-sack season), he also ranked third. Tough competition when you are in the same division as Von Miller.

In 2018, Ingram’s snap count percentage was at 88.32%. In 2015, it was at an incredible 95.91%. The point is, unless it was injury-related, Ingram saw the field a lot. You just never take a guy with his talents off the field. It shows that he is an all-around player who can do a lot for your team.

Coming out of South Carolina, Ingram was a defensive lineman who scouts sited size, speed and arm length as weaknesses of his. It goes without saying that he is doing quite well despite these things. One of the pros to his game is his ability to react to the snap count.
