There’s only one football to spread around, but Denver Broncos sophomore WR DaeSean Hamilton could be targeted heavily in 2019.

There’s only one football to go around, and right now, everyone in the Denver Broncos’ offense is healthy.

Therefore, it’s hard to determine how targets are going to be spread around, and how heavy the Broncos are going to emphasize the passing attack in this Rich Scangarello offense.

It’s safe to assume second-year receiver DaeSean Hamilton is in line for a lot of work in the 2019 season as the Broncos begin to feature their young stars even more, but how much more is he going to see the ball?

At the end of the 2018 season (weeks 14-17) he was seeing the ball a lot.

Hamilton saw 37 targets over the course of the final four games of the Broncos’ 2018 season. Some quick math will tell us that, extrapolated over a 16-game season, that would equate to 148 targets in the passing game.

There were only 15 players in the entire league last season with 148 or more targets. Keenan Allen finished last season with 148 targets and the league leader was DeAndre Hopkins at 173.

Considering Hamilton is going to be sharing targets with Courtland Sutton, Emmanuel Sanders, and the Broncos’ stable of running backs and tight ends, is it possible he would get this kind of attention?

Again, I don’t think we’ll see that unless there is an injury at WR or unless Hamilton emerges this year as the team’s number one target in the passing game.

Many fantasy football players are expecting the huge rise in targets for Hamilton and have adjusted their pre-draft rankings accordingly.

I personally feel like, fantasy-wise, Hamilton could end up being a really nice steal for people this year as I do think he’s set up well for a breakout season and I think 100-plus targets could be within reach.

Perhaps his being the team leader in targets and receptions could be one of the bold predictions for this season.
