Defensive back Kareem Jackson has the talents to make a big impact for the Denver Broncos and could be the x-factor on defense.

When the Denver Broncos signed defensive back Kareem Jackson in free agency, one of the biggest influences of the signing was Jackson’s ability to tackle. Jackson has been in the league since 2010 and 558 career tackles. His best tackling season came in 2018, just in time as he hit free agency.

Vic Fangio made it known that he wants his defensive players to know how to tackle. He wants his defensive backs to be able to tackle. That will come in handy if, say, running backs get past the first and second levels of the defense.

In January, NFL.com’s Chris Wesseling and Nick Shook came up with their own 2018 all-pro team. Wesseling chose Jackson as his safety, sighting his ability to tackle. He also compared Jackson to a former Vikings star:

"”Jackson merits recognition for a phenomenal season which started at safety and ended at cornerback. The surest-tackling cornerback I saw all year, Jackson devastated the Broncos, Bills and Jaguars with big plays and hard hits reminiscent of former Vikings Pro Bowler Antoine Winfield.”— Chris Wesseling, NFL.com in January 2018"

The Broncos gave up a ton of big plays during the 2018 season even with Chris Harris Jr on the field. It is clear that Jackson knows what he is doing and it will be extremely fun to see what he can do in Vic Fangio’s defense.

In Chicago, Fangio had Eddie Jackson and Adrian Amos at safety. He had Kyle Fuller at cornerback. I strongly believe that Kareem Jackson could play one of those roles tremendously.

The Broncos are trying Jackson out at both safety and cornerback. He should see time all over the field and be placed in great position to make plays.

Out of the free agent additions the Denver Broncos have made in 2019, the signing of Jackson was my favourite and I expect him to prove that signing him was the best thing to happen for them.
