Third round (b): Dede Westbrook, WR, Oklahoma (Jaguars)

Original pick: Brendan Langley, CB, Lamar

The Broncos were focused on getting ‘juice’ in this particular draft class, and while Kamara sort of kills two birds with one stone, if you take him early on, adding a slot player like Dede Westbrook would have saved the Broncos the trouble and disappointment of both Carlos Henderson and Isaiah McKenzie in one pick.

Westbrook was injured coming out of Oklahoma, so he was certainly not a sure thing, but he was one of the most exciting and explosive slot players coming out.

It’s hard to fault the Broncos for the Carlos Henderson pick — that one is on Henderson — but I was high on Westbrook coming out and I can’t wait to see what he does now with a QB change in Jacksonville.

He came back from injury to play in his rookie season, and he had somewhat of a breakout year in 2018 with 66 catches for 717 yards and five touchdowns, catching over 65 percent of his targets.
