First round: Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin (Saints)

Original pick: Garett Bolles, OT, Utah

Although Ryan Ramczyk plays a different position for the Saints (RT) than Bolles does for the Broncos (LT), it’s clear after two seasons that Ramczyk was the more pro-ready player.

Not only has Ramczyk been better in pass protection than Bolles (less sacks allowed, fewer penalties) but he has also been a phenomenal run blocker.

Pro Football Focus named Ramczyk their top run blocker in the entire NFL for the 2018 season.

This is a tough pill to swallow as Ramczyk vs. Bolles was really a flip of a coin at the time of the 2017 NFL Draft. The Broncos were desperate for a left tackle and they made sure to get one. But was Bolles the best choice?

As of right now, no.

Ramczyk had some injury concerns coming out of Wisconsin as well as a concern about having just one year of major college football. He was barely a first-round pick as the Saints traded back in to get him after they selected Marshon Lattimore earlier on, but he’s proven to be a heck of a pick and will be a cornerstone for their line for years to come.
