Denver Broncos: Fun free agents to consider signing
5. Darren Sproles, All-Purpose Back
The Broncos don’t necessarily need help at running back if all their guys are healthy, but as previously mentioned with De’Anthony Thomas, there could be a void in the kick and punt return category.
Could former Broncos killer Darren Sproles fill it?
It would certainly be fun to see him wearing orange and blue for a change.
Sproles has seven career touchdowns against the Broncos in 11 games, more than he has against any other team.
He has scored against the Broncos as a running back, receiver, kickoff returner, and punt returner.
At the age of 36, there’s certainly no guarantee that Sproles would be able to contribute in ways he has in the past. In fact, the odds would be against him. But this is a player who historically doesn’t need a ton of touches to make a significant impact on the game.
If he could come in and average 10 yards per punt return, is that worth having? I would say so.
