1. Eric Berry, Safety

In case the first slide didn’t give it away, one of the top players I think the Broncos need to be considering at this point is safety Eric Berry.

The Broncos are currently pretty deep at the safety position, and the arrival of a player like Berry would probably mean the disappointing lack of development from someone like Su’a Cravens, Jamal Carter, Dymonte Thomas, or someone like that.

But if the Broncos don’t want to use Kareem Jackson at safety all of the time, a guy like Berry could be a difference maker.

As we all saw last year, you can never have too many impact players in the secondary and while I’m sure Berry would prefer a role as a starter in an ideal world, the fact of the matter is he’s probably going to need to be willing to accept a backup role somewhere to prove he can play for any length of time.

He’s played a total of three games over the past two seasons, but he will only be 31 in December, so he’s not over the hill or anything.

Still, Berry’s body has been through a lot. If he can still play, he’s an impact player on the back end of a defense. That’s a huge ‘if’ but it would certainly be fun.
