Tight Ends

Jeff Heuerman (important stats): 11 games, 35 receptions, 241 yards, 2 TDs

Jake Butt: 3 games, 8 receptions, 85 yards, 0 TDs

Troy Fumagalli: IR

Noah Fant: Rookie

Right now, we have very little clarity for the Broncos’ tight end position as it relates to fantasy, but we can project just like everyone else.

The most draftable player in this group is very obviously Noah Fant, and I would not be surprised if he’s worth a TE1 look for you. I’m not saying he’s the best TE in the NFL, I’m saying he’s worthy of being your starting tight end possibly from opening day.

Heuerman may be the ‘starter’ on the depth chart, but I would be shocked if one of Fant or Jake Butt doesn’t lead the team at this position in targets in the passing game.

The Broncos didn’t draft Fant to sit on the sidelines and learn from someone. They believe his speed and athleticism can make an immediate difference in the offense. How consistently? Well, that’s hard to say.

Fant could be in a well-spread target share but he should see most of the work in the red zone as a pass catcher, where he was deadly at Iowa. Fant caught 19 touchdowns for the Hawkeyes, and 13 of those were red zone targets.

The pathway for Fant isn’t quite ‘clear’ to be the top receiver at this position for the Broncos as Butt will factor in, and I think Fumagalli could as well, but if you’re drafting any one of these four guys, it has to be Fant and I think you could get him for a bargain price late in your draft.
