Wide Receivers

Emmanuel Sanders (important stats): 98 targets, 71 receptions, 868 yards, 4 TDs

Courtland Sutton: 84 targets, 42 receptions, 704 yards, 4 TDs

DaeSean Hamilton: 45 targets, 30 receptions, 243 yards, 2 TDs

Tim Patrick: 41 targets, 23 receptions, 315 yards, 1 TD

The Broncos’ top four receivers are all interesting from a fantasy perspective.

First, you have the unit’s alpha, Emmanuel Sanders, who is entering a contract year at the age of 32 and coming off of an Achilles tear. That’s usually not a good sign for any receiver, but especially for an older (by NFL standards) player.

I think Sanders is still clearly the number one player for this offense, but it would not surprise me to see him take a backseat to Sutton as the season progresses in terms of targets. Despite Sutton playing every game last season, the fact that he was within 14 targets of Sanders is interesting since he was battling with Demaryius Thomas for snaps the first half of the year.

Sutton tied for the team lead with four touchdown catches and had a TD every 10 receptions. Unfortunately, there was literally only a 50 percent chance he would catch the ball when targeted. I knew Sutton was a great 50-50 guy, but he has to be more than a jump-ball receiver. Can he prove he has a well-rounded game in 2019?

I don’t think you have to over-draft any of these guys. Sanders should be there as a WR2 pick or maybe even a Flex pick. In fact, I kind of like him in that role this year.

Sutton should be there for you as a WR2, but you may have to over-draft him slightly because smart fantasy players are going to project a big year two jump for him. I would not be surprised if he goes over 1,000 yards this season with at least 7 or 8 touchdowns.

Is that projection of Sutton worth over-drafting? Absolutely, in my mind. I think I will be targeting him over Sanders (I don’t like having two Broncos at the same position on my teams).

Hamilton is a guy I would target late in re-draft leagues, simply because if Sanders’ injury affects him at all this season, Hamilton is the guy who stands to benefit the most. He could also be featured in the offense out of the slot and end up being a PPR monster.

Tim Patrick is someone for deeper leagues right now, but if any injuries occur, he proved he can make some big plays last season.
