Joe Flacco

2018 stats that matter: 9 games, 2,465 yards, 12 touchdowns, 6 interceptions

If Joe Flacco’s stats were extrapolated over a full 16 game slate, he would have been on pace for 22 touchdown passes and 4,382 yards, both of which would have been his highest totals since 2014 and the passing yards would have been his highest ever.

His interception percentage of 1.6 percent (six interceptions in 379 pass attempts) was also the lowest of his career. His career average in that category is 2.4 percent, so Flacco may have actually been playing a lot better overall last season than he’s given credit.

But as it relates to fantasy football? The best case scenario for Flacco just from what we know of him in a single season is 27 touchdown passes.

I think if you’re planning for fantasy, Flacco should either be undrafted in smaller re-draft leagues, or he is a late-round flyer type of backup QB who you would want to start a game or two if absolutely necessary.

There may be games where Flacco has three or four touchdown passes, and there may be games where he not only doesn’t throw any touchdowns, he adds a couple of interceptions.

Flacco’s week-to-week play is not consistently inconsistent or anything, but as far as fantasy football goes, he is far more likely to throw for 225 yards and one touchdown than he is to light it up and be a major asset for you on a given week.

His career numbers suggest we can expect him to fall somewhere between the 14-25 range of quarterbacks statistically. If he out-performs that, it’s likely you will have had a chance to grab him on the waiver wire before he gets too hot.
