The Denver Broncos have two star players coming off the edge but lost two key depth pieces in the 2019 offseason. We look at the edge players in 2019.
If there’s one position group Denver Broncos fans have been able to kick back and enjoy watching pretty much stress-free over the last eight years, it’s been the edge rusher/outside linebacker position.
From the moment Von Miller was drafted in 2011 to join forces with Elvis Dumervil, the Broncos have had a pretty sweet stream of talent at the OLB spot, including some guys signed off the street (hello 2013 Shaun Phillips), premiere free agents, high draft picks, and undrafted free agents alike.
Just like a decent receiver became a really good receiver with Peyton Manning at quarterback, a decent pass rusher can be a good or even great pass rusher when working opposite Von Miller.
The Broncos will have a significantly different group of players off the edge in 2019 compared to any year since 2014, however.
There’s no more Shaquil Barrett. There’s no more Shane Ray.
DeMarcus Ware may not be back as a pass rushing consultant this season.
Miller and 2018 top draft choice Bradley Chubb lead the way for a unit that will once again have high expectations in 2019, but the depth could be tested and new stars will need to emerge.
Here’s a look at the players the Broncos currently have at the position, their age, contract information, and an overview of what each guy brings to the table.
