Age: 23

2019 Salary Cap Hit: $910,255

Years under contract: 3

Royce Freeman had quite the interesting rookie campaign. He was drafted to become the team’s bell cow running back given his work load at Oregon. And for the longest time, that would seem to be the case.

During a Thursday night game against the Arizona Cardinals, he would suffer an ankle injury that kept him sidelined for a couple games. It was during that time, and a little before then that Phillip Lindsay would emerge. The coaching staff decided that Lindsay would start over Freeman despite his return from injury.

Freeman still had a solid season, recording five touchdowns on 521 rushing yards. The goal is likely for him to become the bell cow back and start in 2019. His powerful running can help the Denver Broncos get those four to six yards rushing on first down.

I would also look for him to be a goal line running back as well, as he can use his power to get into the end zone. But do not forget that he does have the ability to make some big time plays in open space. Just watch his touchdown run against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night and you will know what I mean.

His patience to wait for a hole to open up in the run game will certainly help going forward.
