Austin Fort

Age: 24
2019 salary cap hit: $496,166
Years under contract 3

Austin Fort was originally recruited to Wyoming to play quarterback, but was supplanted by Josh Allen and ultimately transferred away.

He tried to keep his quarterback hopes alive outside the Wyoming football program but ultimately returned to Laramie in 2017 to be one of Allen’s tight ends.

He started the 2017 season with three touchdowns in the first two games but didn’t factor in a whole lot after that as he continued to transition to the position.

He is 6-foot-4, 245 pounds, and ran a blazing 4.56 at that size prior to the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Broncos let Fort know after he participated in their local pro day that he was a player they wanted to bring in. He sad working with new tight ends coach Wade Harman at the pro day really helped solidify his decision to sign with Denver after the 2019 draft was over, and he was considered a standout player by Andrew Mason of DenverBroncos.com.

He could be an ideal practice squad candidate and I’m excited to see what he can do with that athleticism when the pads come on.
