Denver Broncos: Most Disappointing Seasons in team history
By Tylor Walden
2012 Denver Broncos Season
For those that were too young to remember the Broncos loss to the Jaguars in the 1997 AFC Divisional Round, this season is almost identical to that year. And for Broncos fans that lived through that game, this one is almost like deja vu.
Like the 1996 season, the Denver Broncos finished with a 13-3 record. They started the year 2-3. But they would string together 11 straight wins, which did start when they had that huge 24 point comeback victory over the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football. They would have their bye and win every single game.
The long winning streak gave the Denver Broncos the number one seed in the AFC. They would face off against the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round. Leading 35-28 in the final minute, all Denver needed to do was prevent a third down and long from Joe Flacco and the Ravens.
Flacco threw up a prayer if I have ever seen one. All Denver would need to do was knock it down. Easy enough. The way the ball traveled in the air, that was going to be easy.
The picture of Rahim Moore misplaying the ball will haunt my dreams forever. Jacoby Jones caught it right behind him. No one was around and he was able to walk into the end zone to tie the game.
The game would go into double overtime, where the Broncos season ended on a field goal. It was truly the most heartbreaking thing I have ever witnessed as a Denver Broncos fan.
What do you believe was the most disappointing season in Denver Broncos history?
