10. Inside Linebacker

Like the quarterback position, the Broncos’ inside linebacker group has quite a bit to prove.

The new defense should help these guys quite a bit, but the top two here of Todd Davis and Josey Jewell must show the can be effective every-down players in a defense that will require them to be before the position group as a whole gets a bump.

The Broncos have Joe Jones, Kieshawn Bierria, Alexander Johnson, and a couple of solid UDFAs in Josh Watson and Joe Dineen to work with here, but this position group — more than any other — lacks both star power and proven consistency.

The Broncos could have drafted Devin Bush 10th overall but passed. That shows they have confidence in their current group to do what they’re asking, and I also think we’ll see them incorporate plenty of nickel and dime looks where the linebackers will come off the field.

I’m banking on Josey Jewell establishing himself as a star in this defense in 2019, but this group will have to prove itself.
