The Denver Broncos, in desperate need of some proven offensive line depth, signed guard/tackle Chaz Green who has started seven games.

The Denver Broncos, in need of some help in the swing tackle/guard department after losing Billy Turner to the Green Bay Packers, have signed recently released Chaz Green, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders.

Green was the roster casualty when the Raiders made the silly decision to sign left guard Richie Incognito.

Incognito has been a major problem both on and off the field, but Oakland obviously isn’t concerned about that.

Green comes to the Broncos with a little bit of regular season experience at both left guard and left tackle.

His most recent work for both the Raiders and Cowboys has come at the left guard position, where the Broncos are currently breaking in rookie Dalton Risner.

Behind Risner and left tackle Garett Bolles on the depth chart? Well, I just wrote an article about how the Broncos’ undrafted rookies along the offensive line stand a decent chance of making the team, but now the top backup swing spot might be Green’s to lose.

The former third-round pick out of Florida (91st overall by Dallas) has started seven games in his pro career, six with the Cowboys and one with the Raiders last year.

He’s probably not a player you want to have entrenched in your starting lineup at this point, but I am giving every move the Broncos make along the offensive line a little extra orange optimism as I believe Mike Munchak is going to make a world of difference there.

Even with a limited sample size, Green has been exposed in pass protection to the tune of 24 pressures allowed (7 sacks) and seven penalties in 466 career snaps.

That’s not a great efficiency rating but perhaps Green can figure some things out at his third NFL stop.
