In a media session on Friday, Denver Broncos running back Devontae Booker said previous QBs didn’t have leadership like Joe Flacco.

The Denver Broncos have been searching for the right quarterback to lead the team since the retirement of Peyton Manning. They have gone through a number of guys to try and fill that void left when Manning left.

Running back Devontae Booker said in a press conference after OTAs on Friday that current quarterback Joe Flacco has the leadership skills the team needs, while past quarterbacks were not so good at that part of running an offense.

To hear this is not surprising to me. I personally had noticed that past quarterbacks looked to be very quiet on the field during games. It is very disappointing that it happened. However, the Broncos now have a leader at the position.

Part of having that vocal voice on the field, as well as off the field, is that players need to know what they are doing and why they are doing those things. Another thing is that everybody needs to be confident in themselves, as well as have confidence in each other.

During the last couple of seasons, it looked as if many people on the team were lost. They seemed to not be on the same page with each other. That ultimately leads to struggles. It requires a lot of work to get to a championship level. Leadership is extremely important.

Success is more likely with confidence. Confidence comes with success. After two back-to-back losing seasons, it actually is not surprising if players had lost confidence. It’s time to turn that around and win some football games. Because passion will elevate with winning.

From everything players have said about this new coaching staff, confidence looks to be at an all-time high for the players who are returning to the team.

Listening to defensive lineman Shelby Harris speak today, the tone in his voice, it was clear that players are more confident in this team than the last few years. That is a fantastic sign for the organization, as well as Broncos Country.
