Chris Harris Jr. focusing on the future, not the past
With Chris Harris Jr. back in the mix, the Denver Broncos cornerback is ready to move forward as he prepares for the 2019 season.
There is no question the Denver Broncos are a better football team with Chris Harris Jr. at the cornerback position. We have seen him be a shutdown corner for quite some time.
Harris Jr. ended his contract dispute with the team on Tuesday evening and spoke with the media on Wednesday.
He said that he is happy right now and feels appreciated.
"“Definitely more satisfied for what I do on the field. Definitely getting more respect around the league for what I’ve done. That’s what it’s about. You want to feel appreciated for the work that you’ve done and the work you’re about to put in.”(Quote via Broncos PR)"
Harris Jr. will be up against some good/great wide receivers this upcoming season. He will face new Raiders receiver Antonio Brown twice a year, as well as Chargers wideout Keenan Allen twice as well.
Among the others to potentially go up against Harris Jr. in 2019 are Green Bay Packers’ Davante Adams, Indianapolis Colts’ TY Hilton, and Cleveland Browns’ Odell Beckham Jr.
The star cornerback is not lacking in confidence. Harris Jr. is prepared to work hard and get to the Pro Bowl level everybody is familiar with when it comes to him.
"“I’m about to put in more work. That’s how I feel. You can talk about the past and what I’ve done, but I’m excited about what I’m about to do.”(Quote via Broncos PR)"
It is going to be very interesting to see what changes will be made in his game. With a new defensive scheme to learn, there will be some different looks.
It remains to be seen what tweaks the coaching staff has in store for Harris Jr. but it is clear that he wants to follow the opposing teams’ top wideouts.
It is refreshing to see Chris Harris Jr. back with the Denver Broncos. It is also good news to hear that he is locked in and ready to get to work during what could be his final season with the team.
