The Denver Broncos inked up their first-round pick Noah Fant to his first professional contract in the NFL.

Noah Fant was selected 20th overall by the Denver Broncos in April. There was some uncertainty if he was even in the thought process with a few quarterbacks available at 10. Also, it was unclear if the team would select linebacker with the 10th pick.

Instead, the team acquired draft capital from the Pittsburgh Steelers to move to the 20th pick. It was there they snagged Iowa Hawkeyes tight end Noah Fant, the second Iowa tight end taken in the first round.

He’s reportedly signed his rookie contract.

The Broncos have been searching for consistency at tight end. Not only this but playmaking as well. Fant is a dynamic threat with the ball in his hands. He is a capable receiver like Jimmy Graham, Eric Ebron, Travis Kelce, and George Kittle.

The addition of Fant also continues the Broncos’ trend of going Big Ten heavy at tight end. There’s something in the water in that conference.

One area of Fant’s game that is underrated is his willingness to block. Just because TJ Hockenson received enormous praise for this skill set does not mean Fant is incapable. Fant is more than qualified to be a blocker along with his gift of running faster than defenders.

With some teaching from Mike Munchak, there is nowhere to go but up for Fant and his blocking development.

Joe Flacco has been in the league with Baltimore and now Denver and both teams have drafted a tight end in the first round with him as the starting QB. Fant gives him arguably the most dynamic weapon he has had.

Flacco will formulate a quick bond with Fant because of his love for that position. There’s an explosive element with Fant with wide receiver skills but a size built for tight end. He fits that rare mold of tight end in the NFL.
