Peyton Manning has been retired since winning Super Bowl 50. Would he be interested in a post-playing career position with a franchise?

Former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been very successful, both during his 18-year NFL career and his post-playing career, with endorsements and making commercials

Not to mention owning some of Papa John’s pizza locations.

Manning is 43-years old and nothing is set in stone as to if he is going to return to the NFL and join a franchise in some capacity. However, let’s explore the possibility.

Recently, there was a rumor that Manning could be pursued as the next General Manager of the New York Jets.

However, that rumor was shot down fairly quickly. Honestly, it seems unlikely that Manning would want to have that much responsibility in his first NFL job.

Being a general manager of a sports team is not a job with flexible hours. It requires a lot of long days and would take a lot of time away from Manning’s family. After retiring from an 18-year playing career, it is unlikely that he’d want to do that.

Despite his inexperience in owning an NFL franchise, Manning could possibly be an NFL owner one day. His former wide receiver, Reggie Wayne, agrees.

It makes sense that Manning would want full control over all operations of a franchise. After being coached for 18-plus years, why would he want to continue taking orders from people?

As an owner, Manning would have to hire his own general manager. From there, whoever he hires as the GM would likely have control over the coaching staff and players.

Another issue for Manning in terms of obtaining ownership of an NFL franchise is the price that it would cost. The price of an NFL franchise is well into the billions. The Dallas Cowboys, for instance, are the highest-valued franchise in the NFL at $5 billion. At the 10th spot are the Philadelphia Eagles at $2.75 billion.

Manning simply does not have that much money. Despite an 18-year NFL career and being successful in other things such as commercials, Manning is well short of the billions.

According to Forbes, Manning retired as the highest-earning player in NFL history at $400 million.

If Manning were to become an owner of an NFL Franchise, he would need to have a lot more money to buy one. At 43-years old, there is still plenty of time for that to happen if he wants it to.
