2. Hiring Mike Munchak

Every year around January, Broncos Country should send a big ‘thank you’ to Mike Munchak’s daughter for moving to the Denver area.

Munchak wanted to be the Broncos’ head coach, and he was qualified for the job.

He is a former head coach in the NFL, and John Elway was said to value that type of experience in his evaluation process.

He is a former Hall of Fame player, just like Elway, who has excelled in his post-playing days’ role.

He is considered one of the best position coaches in all of football and next to Dante Scarnecchia (Patriots) has a reputation as the best offensive line coach in the game.

When he didn’t get the head coaching job, everyone assumed he would return to Pittsburgh, but Munchak’s family ties in Colorado lured him out of the Steel City and brought him to the Mile High City to be the Broncos’ offensive line coach.

This is such an important move.

Munchak will develop the major investments the Broncos have made on the OL (Garett Bolles, Ja’Wuan James, Ron Leary, Dalton Risner) as well as the unheralded talent and underdog players (Connor McGovern, Sam Jones, etc.).

He has such a critical role coming over to the Broncos this offseason and I can’t wait to see what kind of improvements the offensive linemen make under his guidance.
