Former Denver Broncos quarterback Chad Kelly is getting a second chance, as he has signed with the Indianapolis Colts.

Chad Kelly, once a promising prospect for the Denver Broncos, has signed with the Indianapolis Colts.

The former Broncos 7th-round pick has been unemployed since the team cut him after a Halloween party which saw Kelly get arrested for breaking into somebody’s home in October of 2018.

Kelly has gone to court regarding the incident but has yet to receive any sort of punishment from the league. Investigations take a while to go through so there may still be a suspension coming his way.

He has only appeared in one game during his brief NFL career, and it was a kneel down to end a game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

In preseason action, Kelly completed 40-of-60 passes (66.7%) for 466 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. That is not a large sample size but Kelly did show some promise while on the field.

Kelly has gotten in trouble plenty of times, going back to his college days at Ole Miss. In 2014, he was arrested for threatening to spray a nightclub with bullets from an AK-47.

He obviously has had some problems in the past, and some of the incidents he has gotten into are scary situations. However, hopefully, he has gotten to the point in his life where he can move on and be successful.

Kelly worked out for the Colts earlier this offseason but was not signed at the time. The team must have felt like it wasn’t the right time, for whatever reason, to sign him. Now that the NFL Draft is over, he will get his chance with them.

If he had stayed out of trouble, Kelly could have become a reliable backup for the Denver Broncos. It is unfortunate that he was unable to do so but now is his second chance.
