Grades Explained

Oakland Raiders: B+

I like the moves the Raiders made on an individual basis and even put together. I don’t love some of their draft picks and I don’t like the philosophy of trading for and paying Antonio Brown when you traded Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper.

Not that things were working out great for the Raiders before, but those are odd moves to me.

I think the Raiders upgraded most areas on their team but the number of new players they brought in could cause some slow and difficult growing pains in year two of the Jon Gruden era.

Denver Broncos: B+

The Broncos needed a new head coach and quarterback. I think it’s safe to say they did a good job addressing both of those areas.

However, they lost some key role players defensively and may have to replace Chris Harris Jr.

If John Elway is forced to trade his star corner, this grade will go down further.

Los Angeles Chargers: C

The Chargers could have upgraded their offensive line more through the draft, but they stuck with building their stellar defense instead.

As underwhelming as this offseason may have been for Chargers fans in terms of change, the exciting thing about it all is there will be consistency. This team should be gelling.

Kansas City Chiefs: C-

This grade would be a D- if it weren’t for the additions of Tyrann Mathieu and Juan Thornhill in the secondary. I don’t think the Chiefs did a good job addressing cornerback or center, and I think they have a really bad situation with Tyreek Hill on their hands.

Obviously, the Chiefs didn’t have unlimited funds, but getting rid of Dee Ford and Justin Houston was also a questionable move to me.
