The Denver Broncos have signed their first draft pick from the 2019 NFL Draft as former Colorado wide out Juwann Winfree signs his rookie deal.
With the start of organized team activities underway, this is the likely time NFL teams will start signing their draft picks to their rookie deals. The Denver Broncos have signed their first one just a day after rookie minicamp. Juwann Winfree, come on down.
The team announced that they have agreed to terms with their sixth round draft pick to his rookie contract. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but we do know that it is a four year contract.

Denver traded up with the Carolina Panthers in order to select the Colorado Buffaloe wide out. It required them to give up their sixth and seventh round pick. But the Broncos must have a lot of faith in him for trading up to get him.
Juwann Winfree will be joining a big time wide receiving corps that includes Emmanuel Sanders, Courtland Sutton, and DaeSean Hamilton. As far as his role on the roster, I believe Winfree will end up either as the sixth wide out or placed on the practice squad. But for all we know, he could surprise us all this season.
When evaluating him, I could see him as a returner for the team. However, it will depend on his performance and the other players.
It is common practice to see late round draft picks signed first. Because so much goes into contracts for the players selected day one, it normally takes a bit more time. But John Elway is known for getting his draft picks signed early, so the fact that he has his first draft pick signed just a little over two and a half weeks after the draft is a good sign.
Hopefully, the rest of the draft picks get signed shortly. Glad to see the first domino fall. And now we can officially put Juwann Winfree’s contract on the books.
