Where the Denver Broncos will get better and where they won’t

WORSE: LINEBACKER

I know, this seems silly. How could a linebacker corp with the likes of Von Miller and Bradley Chubb be on any sort of bad list? I’m sure you think I’m crazy, but hear me out.

This group did not so much get worse, but they lost a significant amount of depth that will be tough to get back.

The 2019 offseason saw the departures of Shaquil Barrett (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Brandon Marshall (Oakland Raiders) and Shane Ray (free agent). There is no doubt that at one point the Broncos had the most fearsome linebackers and had the depth to go along with it. Broncos Country, I hope you enjoyed this, because it is not every day you have this many talented linebackers on your roster, and it is sad that this had to end, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out with the salary cap.

John Elway, Vic Fangio, and Co. have a lot of faith that Josey Jewell is ready to step into the starting role, and Broncos fans feel it too. Josey Jewell brings a tenacity to the defense and I think we are all excited to see more of him. Another guy the Broncos feel can step up is Jeff Holland. We saw exciting tidbits of him last season, and I think he is another guy we are looking forward to seeing more of.

We also saw Dekoda Watson rejoin the team, which is another good addition to the corp.

While any group including Miller and Chubb can’t be bad, the linebackers did lose depth, but I feel there is talent on the roster ready to prove itself.
