Devontae Booker

A year ago, there was chatter that running back Devontae Booker could be cut in favor of De’Angelo Henderson. That didn’t happen. In fact, the opposite happened, as Henderson was let go.

The Broncos chose not to select a running back in the 2019 draft. That, in my opinion, was the right call. They have confidence in Phillip Lindsay, as well as Royce Freeman and Devontae Booker.

The Broncos are likely going to use a running back by committee approach in 2019. Phillip Lindsay was the main workhorse for the team in 2018, but could see some less carries in a new system.

Fellow 2018 rookie Royce Freeman is a different type of back. He is like Booker—a big back who can plot through defenders.

The Broncos did sign two undrafted running backs after the draft, but they may end up being camp bodies. We’ll see. Maybe one of them will shine and earn their way onto the roster, like Lindsay did last year.

I just feel like Booker is going to end up making the team again.
