Defensive Line – 6 (35/53)

LDE: Derek Wolfe
RDE: Adam Gotsis
DT: Shelby Harris
DT: Zach Kerr
DT: Dre’Mont Jones (R)
DL: DeMarcus Walker

This position group is so interesting for the Broncos.

I know a lot of people think DeMarcus Walker is going to be cut but I’m not going to jump the gun on that. Including this year, he has two years left on his rookie contract and that could come into play unless he’s beat by someone outright.

More on that to come.

We know third-round pick Dre’Mont Jones is making it. Zach Kerr was just re-signed this offseason and is one of the only guys on this list who actually weighs more than 300 pounds.

Wolfe and Gotsis return, along with Shelby Harris, as the Broncos’ top linemen but all on the last year of their respective contracts.

How about that?

The Broncos may have to decide between keeping just two of those guys, and that will be very tough.

Wolfe is obviously a staple for this unit, and he doesn’t want to leave. Gotsis has really developed into a very good starting defensive end. Harris has also become a fan favorite and has made some huge plays as a role player.

There’s a lot to sort out here but the Broncos need to make sure they keep guys who have multiple years on their contract so the cupboard is not entirely bare next year.
