Denver Broncos: 53-man roster predictions after the 2019 Draft
Safety – 5 (53/53)
FS: Justin Simmons
SS: Will Parks
FS: Dymonte Thomas
SS: Su’a Cravens
SS: Jamal Carter
I absolutely love this group for the Broncos.
I think Parks can float all over the formation, and I can’t wait to see what kind of leap he takes in year four under Vic Fangio and Ed Donatell.
Simmons should see a significant boost as well from playing in this defensive system.
Dymonte Thomas has really come along as another strong UDFA find for the Broncos. He can play the deep free safety spot as well as special teams, so he’s valuable to the Broncos in that regard.
Many feel like Su’a Cravens is a sunken cost after last year, but I take serious issue with that. Cravens was ice cold after sitting out 2017, was acquired for highly valuable draft assets, then put on IR while he recovered from a knee injury.
The sample size we got after that is almost irrelevant to me, but many seem to think he has poor work habits. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Jamal Carter is back this year after he was poised for a big breakout season in 2018 before an injury in the first preseason game.
The only issue here is the Broncos may have to cut someone who can really play at this position. The competition will be fierce.
