Detroit Lions (13th Overall via Miami) – Montez Sweat, EDGE, Mississippi State

Pick Made by Derek Esquibel

After securing more draft capitol from the Dolphins the Lions still get a premier defensive player in the draft with Sweat.  The Lions had fairly good sack numbers but nobody on the roster had over eight sacks on the season. Including newly signed Trey Flowers.

After an 11.5 sack season last year and an insane 4.41 forty yard dash Sweat should make the Lions defense more explosive.

Atlanta Falcons (14th Overall) – Greedy Williams, CB, LSU

Pick Made by Derek Esquibel

In a three week span last season the Falcons gave up 121 points. An average of 40.3 points per game. Getting healthy and adding a potential shut-down corner should make that stretch seem long-ago.

Plus adding a high-profile, shut down corner, who doesn’t really like to tackle should bring back great memories of their 1989 selection.

Washington Redskins (15th Overall) – Devin Bush, ILB, Michigan

Pick Made by Cameron Parker

This is a scenario where Devin Bush lasts till the 15th. In reality, Bush may not last this long. There’s been recent mock drafts pointing to Denver as a possible landing spot. Washington gets their guy to replace Zach Brown. If you ask me, Bush is the most ready between he and Devin White. Bush is sound in his tactics playing linebacker. He is more pro ready than White.

Carolina Panthers (16th Overall) – Rashan Gary, DE, Michigan

Pick Made by Ty Walden

As we approach the halfway mark of the draft, the Carolina Panthers have some options. The bigger needs are on both lines as well as needing a wide receiver. For this mock, I had the Panthers go with defensive line.

Signing Matt Paradis lessened the need on the offensive line for the Panthers. Needing a solid interior push on the defensive line, the Panthers make it back-to-back Wolverines drafted and solidify a big need in Rashan Gary.
