The Denver Broncos are adding to their defensive front, bringing back defensive end Billy Winn.

When we last heard of defensive lineman Billy Winn, he had suffered a torn ACL in the first preseason game of the 2017 season. Now, the Denver Broncos have decided to give Winn another shot.

The team is re-signing Winn.

The Broncos are in need of defensive line help, as they decided to get younger at the position and move on from Domata Peko.

From 2012 through 2016, Winn recorded 111 tackles, three sacks, two interceptions and defended five passes. Due to his size (6’4”, 300 lbs), he should make an impact if he makes the team, especially against the run game.

Winn is going to have to earn a spot on the roster, as the team’s defensive end position is already strong. Denver has Derek Wolfe, Adam Gotsis, Zach Kerr, DeMarcus Walker, and Cashaud Lyons.

It is also possible that the team adds to the position through the draft in the next week.

Winn was a sixth-round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns in the 2012 draft. He played for the Browns until 2015. In 2015, however, he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts, where he spent just one season.

With a defensive-minded head coach, it would be interesting to see how Winn thrives in the Broncos defense. There have been some very successful players under Fangio while he has been a defensive coordinator in the league. Maybe this is the perfect situation for Winn.

Winn, 30, has the potential to have an impact on the team. Fangio is known to take players and make them into stars. Winn should be able to play at a solid level if his knee is better and he can keep it healthy.

Whether or not Winn makes the team will likely be decided during or after the team’s preseason games. His spot on the roster is not guaranteed, and what the Broncos do in the draft could also have an impact.

Hopefully, he can make the best out of this opportunity.
