The latest Denver Broncos mock draft includes a new franchise quarterback and some picks with an eye on the future of the team.

John Elway has a lot on his plate as the Denver Broncos approach yet another season where a couple of bounces of the ball could be the difference between 8-8, 10-6, or 6-10.

The Broncos, as presently constructed, look like a decent team on paper. They have some holes, sure, but Joe Flacco should provide the necessary short-term stability to keep this Broncos team in most games, even if they are out-matched in their own division against teams like the Chiefs with their offensive weaponry led by MVP Patrick Mahomes or the deep defense in Los Angeles.

The NFL Draft sets great teams apart from good, average, or bad ones. Last year’s draft class set a new standard in Denver and looks like one of the best in Elway’s tenure along with 2011, 2012, and 2016.

The 2019 NFL Draft is deep at some key positions for the Broncos, who have needs across the board. But the Broncos’ needs are not just for the 2019 season. This Denver roster has needs beyond 2019 and those needs could be addressed this year.

The Broncos don’t necessarily need to strictly look at players and positions that won’t play at all this season, but they need to make sure there is a plan in place and not just a 2020 draft pick when some players hit the open market.

With that in mind, along with a couple of other pre-draft nuggets floating around, I took another stab at a Broncos mock draft considering where we are in the process, what has happened, and what is on the horizon.

Using The Draft Network’s simulator along with NFL.com’s player rankings, I pieced this seven-round Broncos mock draft together. Let’s take a look at the picks.
