First round: Devin White, LB, LSU

The title and first slide spoiled this one, but the Broncos get what so many fans have been clamoring for this offseason with their top pick — a fast, off-ball linebacker.

It wasn’t long ago this position was considered a bit of a reach in the early portion of the first round, but a player with White’s athletic ability is somewhat of an anomaly, and considering he was a multi-year starter and team captain, he will fit right in with what the Broncos coveted in last year’s class.

White was a dual-threat in high school playing some running back in addition to dominating on the defensive side of the ball, but he blossomed into an All-American for the Tigers with two years of stellar production.

He racked up 286 total tackles in his time at LSU, including 28.5 tackles for loss. Perhaps most exciting for Broncos fans, White excels in coverage and is a terror when it comes to blitzing on third downs.

He’s not Roquan Smith as Vic Fangio has stated publicly, but he’s a very good prospect and should be a consideration if he’s on the board here.

Here’s a fun scenario to consider: If the Broncos are looking at both White and Drew Lock on the board at this point, who do they take?

That’s a decision John Elway could be faced with in the coming weeks.
