. Defensive Tackle. Clemson Tigers. Dexter Lawrence. 41. player. 45

Dexter Lawrence is probably a pure first-round talent if he did not miss the College Football Playoffs with a drug test suspension. The Denver Broncos still do have a pressing need on the interior of the defensive line. An addition of Lawrence is an opportunity to fortify it with impact and immovable object. Lawrence is a very strong human being that despite his size can put pressure in the backfield.

Lawrence’s best trait though is consuming double teams. This allows players like Adam Gotsis, Derek Wolfe, Von Miller and Bradley Chubb to eat. Opening opportunities for others is a very underrated or under-appreciated attribute for defensive linemen. While the addition of Domata Peko is not out of the question, Denver needs to be younger at this position. In Lawrence’s freshmen year, he exploded on the scene. If there’s one area Vic Fangio is best at it is the reclamation projects. Lawrence is not an NFL reclamation project but he is one that can get back to his natural ability with a defensive guru putting him in the right situation.
