Why free agents decided to pick the Denver Broncos
Ja’Wuan James, OT
The Broncos signed James in the first wave of free agency to be their new starting right tackle, and paid him handsomely.
James signed the biggest contract ever for a right tackle at $12.75 million per season on average.
Other than that, why did he choose the Broncos?
"“There were a lot of different things. One, and I keep talking about it, is the tradition here. I came here in 2014 as a rookie and this was one of the most hostile environments that we played in. These fans are crazy out here and they are all about it. Talking about family, my wife is from out here—from Thornton. Just coming out here over the years and visiting, like I said, you see all of the Broncos gear and all of the Broncos fans everywhere. That’s all they talk about, so I’m excited to be a part of this tradition.” Ja’Wuan James"
As you can see from that quote, a lot went into James’ decision to pick Denver. Family ties have been key factors in bringing both James and his position coach — Mike Munchak — to the Broncos.
James cited the great fans and tradition as major contributing factors for him as well, and the fact that Munchak and Chris Kuper are on the coaching staff also played a key role.
