Final Thoughts

Some of these thoughts weren’t stated in so many words by the Broncos, but I will say that one of my top takeaways from this press conference was a reinforced thought that the Broncos won’t take a quarterback with the 10th overall pick in this year’s draft.

That would also mean I don’t think they’re going to trade up for someone, either.

The trade for Joe Flacco, to me, was a signal fire of Elway’s lack of faith in this year’s quarterback class. Reading the tea leaves, I think Elway was highly disappointed that Justin Herbert didn’t declare for this year’s draft, and while I believe he likes Drew Lock, I don’t know that he loves Drew Lock.

Unless every other top target is off the board for the Broncos at 10, I don’t see Lock being the pick. I think the Broncos have made moves this offseason signifying their intentions to go all-in right away again, not screwing around with a quarterback battle but trying to win games with Flacco as ‘the guy’.

do believe the Broncos will draft a quarterback at some point (one of Will Grier, Ryan Finley, or Jarrett Stidham) to be a high-end backup/potential starter type on day two or three of the NFL Draft.

dark. Next. Broncos working quickly to fill needs

I just don’t see QB being on this team’s priority list on the first day of the 2019 NFL Draft. Take that for what you will. I believe this team is fully bought in to Flacco, at least for 2019.
