The cornerback position saw an addition to the defense, but the Broncos were not done making a splash to their secondary as the team added Bryce Callahan.

According to multiple reports, first reported by Benjamin Allbright, the Denver Broncos and Bryce Callahan have come to terms on a deal that will send the cornerback to the Mile High City. Callahan was widely considered one of the top nickel cornerbacks in his class. He provides more versatility to a secondary with the recent signing of Kareem Jackson. At the age of 27, Callahan will bring more veteran youth to the position.

The reason for the move seems to be strictly the comfortably playing with Vic Fangio. Callahan affords the Denver Broncos to put Chris Harris Jr. on the outside being a true number one cornerback. However, there are matchups galore in the secondary.

Callahan is capable to play outside, but with Harris already present seems Callahan commands the inside. It is hard to argue a signing that can directly impact a defense here and now. This also allows 2018 NFL Draft pick Isaac Yiadom to continue developing into a strong future secondary piece.

The signing of Callahan affords the Denver Broncos to have a voice of communication to get the cornerbacks in the right position every play. Communication is one of the things often overlooked at times and bringing in Callahan, for this reason, is hard to argue.

Vic Fangio can speak his mind to the players, but it helps having a cornerback do the same in practice. The cornerback position was one of the weakest entering free agency. On board is the addition, Kareem Jackson. Now Callahan is coming to town.

As said multiple times, safety was not a position of need. Yet, there are strong connections to Fangio’s defense. The question became Adrian Amos or Bryce Callahan. Well, Callahan come on down and welcome to Denver!
