Tavon Austin, WR/RS, Cowboys
Tavon Austin showed this past season that he is still capable of being a solid weapon in an offense, and he brings to the table a few things the Denver Broncos need.
1. Speed
2. Punt return ability
3. Effectiveness without a high volume of touches
The former first-round pick out of West Virginia could be exactly what the Broncos need.
He’s the type of guy who can blow the top off of a defense with speed, but he doesn’t need a ton of targets or snaps to be effective. He only touched the ball 14 times for the Cowboys last year, and averaged 13.9 yards per touch with two scores, the highest average of his career.
Austin plays special teams and showed in the postseason he’s still capable of being an explosive returner in the punting game.
If the Broncos are hellbent on getting this type of player in free agency, Austin should come on the cheap and could be effective in the roles they have available.
