Tight end was a position regarded with sneaky depth heading into the regular season.

That seemed to be the thinking early, but it faded later in the season due to a variety of unfortunate injuries.

While Tyler Eifert is the most talented tight end in free agency, there’s something to strongly consider with this potential signing on an offense. Eifert would benefit from Joe Flacco as a reliable middle of the field target and one capable of stretching every part of the field.

As for drafting a tight end, this move would not take you away from selecting one in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Tight end is widely regarded as one of the deepest in this year’s class. Given the high risk/high reward of Eifert coming to Denver, deciding not to choose a tight end in the draft would be a mistake.

That’s the best beauty of signing Eifert. It turns the tight end position to more rounded and makes you less concerned about depth.
