Honorable Mention/Bonus Picks

Malik Jackson, DL, Jacksonville Jaguars

A reunion with Malik Jackson is all I really want in free agency.

In all seriousness, the memories of Jackson falling on Von Miller’s strip sack of Cam Newton in Super Bowl 50 haven’t faded in the least. I can still remember him whipping the ball up into the stands after scoring the first touchdown of the game.

Jackson worked so well in Denver with the entire cast of characters they had, and bringing him back would bring a happy tear to my eye.

John Brown, WR, Baltimore Ravens

I’m not the biggest fan of the idea of John Brown playing in Denver with the sickle cell trait, but apparently, that situation is nowhere near as severe as players who have sickle cell anemia, which caused Ryan Clark to nearly die after playing in Denver in 2007.

Brown has arguably the best deep speed of any receiver in this class, and his skill set is exactly what the Broncos’ wide receiver group needs.

Trent Brown, OT, New England Patriots

Brown is on the list for the same reason as Ja’Wuan James, but Brown has some familiarity with Rich Scangarello. They were together one year in San Francisco before the Patriots traded for Brown.

He had a great year for New England as a left tackle this past season, but he’s proven himself capable on the right side. He might prefer the left side now, especially in terms of the money. That’s the primary reason he’s not featured on this list, but this could work if the Broncos and Brown were motivated to make it happen.

All the free agent CBs

There are so many free agent cornerback options for the Broncos to consider, it would be impossible to peg one and guess the one Denver’s going to choose.

Outside of Bryce Callahan, there are no real obvious coaching connections in free agency. The Broncos might wait until wave two of free agency to re-sign Bradley Roby if he finds the grass isn’t greener elsewhere, and that might be the best option.

Instead of signing one big name CB for $14 million/year, sign Callahan and Roby for $14 million combined.

That would be great.

What we know at this point is that the Broncos are expected to be aggressive. This isn’t a list of predictions of who the Broncos will sign, but players that make sense for the Broncos to consider.

More. Underwhelming options for the Broncos in free agency. light

In all likelihood, there is a player or two on this list the Broncos will bring in, and we’ll know soon enough which ones.
