Though the Broncos could wait for the initial wave of free agency to die down to sign a right tackle (welcome back, Jared Veldheer?) they could also be major players for some of the top right tackles available in free agency.

One of the best players out there this year is Miami Dolphins right tackle Ja’Wuan James, who has worked the past few years with new Denver Broncos assistant offensive line coach Chris Kuper.

James’ familiarity with Kuper, along with the understanding that the Broncos were one of the teams who tried to trade for him in 2018, could be the edge the Broncos need in signing him.

James could very well become the highest paid right tackle in the game. He may not be the best right tackle in the game, but he could get paid like it as right tackles try to change the weird separation in the free agent market where they have been getting paid about half as much as the top left tackles in recent years.

If the Broncos can get James at a deal under $11 million per season, that would be a huge win.
