Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr played with defensive lineman Malik Jackson for four seasons. He wants that chance again.

Every once in a while, we hear about a player attempting to recruit another player to his team. Such thing has happened on Friday, as cornerback Chris Harris Jr tweeted out to defensive end Malik Jackson to “come home” to the Denver Broncos.

A Malik Jackson return would be interesting. The Broncos are expected to part ways with nose tackle Domata Peko, while Zach Kerr and Shelby Harris are also unrestricted free agents.

Jackson has had a pretty productive career since being drafted by the Broncos in the 2012 NFL Draft. He has recorded 32 sacks in seven seasons while recording zero of those sacks during his rookie year. So, basically, 32 sacks in the last six years, if you want to put it that way.

The 29-year old Jackson would fill a hole left by Peko, who is in the later stages of his career. The Broncos’ decision to move on from Peko was to get younger.

How about signing a player who is just 29-years old but still has a lot of experience? Jackson was part of the Denver Broncos Super Bowl defense. He had five sacks during that season.

While five sacks aren’t going to blow the minds of anybody, his presence on the field helped other players, like Von Miller, have success. Miller had 11 sacks during the 2015 regular season.

Then you have a defensive mastermind in head coach Vic Fangio. Fangio helped the Chicago Bears defense record fifty sacks during the 2018 season, which is a phenomenal number. Just think what Fangio could do with a guy such as Jackson.

I think that a Jackson-Broncos reunion would greatly benefit the team. However, based off of some things Jackson said while as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, it may be tricky to convince him to come home to where his NFL career began.

But while there may be bad blood between Jackson and parts of the Denver Broncos (despite many changes to the team), Jackson could still be an option for the team.
