Free agent wide receivers?

The more I think about adding a free agent wide receiver this offseason, the less I like it.

I’m not 100 percent sold on the Broncos signing John Brown, who has struggled with injuries in the past and carries the sickle cell trait.

He doesn’t have sickle cell anemia which is apparently the more serious condition which has affected guys like Ryan Clark in the past, but it’s still a serious issue.

Are the Broncos really letting Joe Flacco come in and call free agent shots? Does he have that kind of clout?

This year’s free agent wide receiver group is nothing to write home about. One of the best players on the market is slot receiver Adam Humphries, who could command upwards of $8-10 million per season.

I would much rather see the Broncos go after a guy like Donte Moncrief than some of the other names that have been mentioned, but unless teams start releasing speed demons to free agency, the idea of a free agent receiver just isn’t appealing right now, though I understand the Broncos need that.

There aren’t many names worth trading for either, though John Ross of the Bengals would certainly be worth a look.

Whatever the Broncos end up doing here, I’ll have to be convinced of it similar to the Flacco trade.
