The Denver Broncos will be bringing back two favorites for at least one more year as Emmanuel Sanders and Derek Wolfe will have their options exercised.

Two of Broncos Country fan favorites will be returning to the Denver Broncos in 2019. John Elway announced during his meeting at the Scouting Combine that Emmanuel Sanders and Derek Wolfe will have their contract options exercised for the 2019 season.

Emmanuel Sanders will be coming off an Achilles injury that he suffered during practice before the Broncos took on the San Francisco 49ers. His absence was a big factor in the Broncos struggles down the stretch. After Sanders went down, the team lost the remaining four games of the season and their dim playoff hopes vanished.

Derek Wolfe is coming off a rough season himself, only recording 43 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He has been a big part of the team’s run defense and he will look to continue that into 2019.

By exercising the options, Emmanuel Sanders will have $1.5 million guaranteed while Derek Wolfe is guaranteed one million.

I believe that the Denver Broncos are still in that window that they can win now, with the right pieces. Having both Sanders and Wolfe back with the team could boost their chances even more of getting back to the postseason.

It also eliminates any needs the Broncos have at certain positions. Clearly wide receiver will not be a pressing need as Andrew Wade talks about here.

As of right now, Emmanuel Sanders is set to return by Week One of the 2019 season. Derek Wolfe will look to help bring a veteran presence to a defense that could become a force under Vic Fangio.

Who else could be returning to the Denver Broncos? We will know soon enough as we approach the free agency period that should be an entertaining month of March.
