Elway talks Kyler Murray

John Elway was asked about Kyler Murray and whether or not his size would impact his ability to be successful at the NFL level.

While Elway’s response highlighted the talent, athleticism, and overall ability of Murray, it appeared as if it gave away that the team won’t have interest in Murray in this year’s draft.

"“Obviously, the size is always the question, but we’ve seen guys that have had success in the league that are not necessarily the prototypes as far as when it comes to height.” John Elway on the size of Kyler Murray impacting his ability to be successful in the NFL"

Elway would go on to add that Murray has the ability to be a great player.

The Broncos plan to go under center this season with Joe Flacco, keyword being ‘under center’ in Rich Scangarello’s system.

Elway touched on the difference with height and being under center compared to being in shotgun, stating that it’s much more difficult to be under center with a lack of height.

We can read into that comment in many different ways, but that answer seems nearly indicative that the Broncos won’t have interest in Murray.

Being under center opens up the running game more effectively in terms of establishing balance on the offensive side of the ball, something the Broncos struggled with last season.

The team’s identity has proven to be a strength in the run game, having the right guy under center is imperative for them to create that missing balance.
