Denver Broncos: 5 takeaways from John Elway’s press conference

Elway talks about adding a CB2
The Broncos secondary had their evident struggles in 2018 from a variety of standpoints.
Chris Harris Jr. had wanted to play on the outside to showcase his ability to the NFL world, unfortunately, the Broncos didn’t have any slot cover options outside of him.
Bradley Roby had an off year in terms of productivity and surrendered more yards and touchdowns this year than he has in his entire NFL career.
Tramaine Brock couldn’t stay healthy, so the team’s depth at CB was thin nearly every week.
The team had hopes that Isaac Yiadom could step in and contribute, but as we’ve seen in history, playing a rookie can be a move that either builds or destroys his confidence.
Yiadom possesses all the necessary intangibles but has to find a way to make plays on the football. He’ll be primed to have a big year in 2019.
With Bradley Roby expected to test the free agent market, the team still has a big need to address their depth at CB.
"“We think there’s some cornerbacks in the draft. We think it’s a rather deep class, and so, that’s an option. But there’s also an option in free agency, too. John Elway at the NFL Scouting Combine (all quotes via Broncos PR)"
Elway has his sights set on adding potential options through free agency and the Draft, but his biggest concern is bringing in a guy to be no. 2 to Chris Harris Jr.
"“Obviously, we know with Chris [Harris Jr.] coming back that we’ve got a solid No. 1. We’ve just got to find some depth there and find a [No.] 2.” John Elway"
There is evident talent in this year’s draft with options like Greedy Williams, Byron Murphy, Deandre Baker, but we have to ask whether or not Denver can fulfill that need through free agency.
