The Denver Broncos are interested in adding a veteran receiver, but apparently not Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Antonio Brown.

The Denver Broncos will be looking for a veteran wide receiver in free agency, but they are apparently not going to be involved in the Antonio Brown sweepstakes.

Mike Klis of 9News in Denver reported on Tuesday that the Broncos are not interested in Brown. Here’s what he had to say:

"“The Broncos aren’t interested in the Steelers’ controversial receiver.”Mike Klis, 9News Denver"

Klis goes on to explain that Brown’s new contract demands upon being traded, along with the cost to get him in draft compensation, are leading reasons why the Broncos will not be in pursuit of the guy who is arguably the NFL’s best at his position.

Though the cost to get Brown in terms of a draft pick or two will be reasonable for a player of his caliber, part of the reason it would be attractive to trade for Brown is that the trading team would not have to re-do his contract. He would have three years left on a deal and his base salary would make him a bargain on paper.

The Steelers would have to eat a lot of dead money, which Brown is still receiving, so the idea of giving him a new contract on top of what he’s already due is a bit ridiculous.

That’s something the Broncos can’t really do right now. They would have probably loved to have added Brown at his current base salary figures, but to trade for him and then re-do his deal?

Not ideal.

There will be some team in the NFL with extra draft picks and cap space who would probably love to acquire Brown. Perhaps the Indianapolis Colts who have two second-round picks and over $100 million in cap space will try and get him.

Must Read. High risk, high reward free agency picks. light

For people like me who loved this idea initially, the thought of having to re-structure Brown’s deal on a somewhat tight budget make this an easy idea to forget and put in the past.
