What if the Denver Broncos decide to go high risk, high reward in 2019 free agency? Here’s a look at one road John Elway could go down.

How do you hit home runs in free agency? You have to swing for the fences.

Denver Broncos general manager John Elway is certainly known for his willingness to take chances and has already taken a big one by trading for Joe Flacco. What other home run swings can Elway take in free agency?

I put together a list of some of the most intriguing moves Elway could make, all on guys who are under 30 and it just so happens that all were formerly high draft choices.

This is not necessarily a list full of reclamation projects, though some could fit into that category as well. This is a list of players who, if they play to their full potential, could pay off big time for the Broncos. But if they continue to struggle — with play or injuries or off-field issues — the Broncos could get burned.

Free agency is all about assessing risk versus reward. These players are high risk players, not only in some cases in a financial sense but because the Broncos would be signing some and relying on them to produce.

What if Elway decided to push all of his chips into the middle of the high-risk, high-reward table in free agency? Let’s take a look at a group of names that, if signed, could either propel the Broncos into contention or leave them hanging.
